Mumbai: Fans of Farzi finally have a reason to celebrate. On the third anniversary of the hit Amazon Prime Video series, the makers have officially announced Farzi Season 2. First released on the 10th of February, 2023, the much-loved black comedy crime thriller featuring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi immediately became one of the biggest successes on the platform.
The announcement was made by creators and directors Raj and DK through their social media handles. They even posted a dramatic picture of a huge stack of cash with the text Round 2 in progress that indeed the new part of the narrative is being developed now.
Shoot Timeline and Expected Release
While the makers have kept detailed plot updates under wraps, Farzi Season 2 is expected to go on floors in March 2026. The shoot is likely to be completed within the year, paving the way for a late 2026 or early 2027 release. The announcement has already sparked excitement among fans, who have been eagerly waiting for an update since the first season ended on a gripping note.
What Made Farzi Such a Big Hit
Farzi follows the story of Sunny, a talented but struggling artist played by Shahid Kapoor, who gets pulled into the world of counterfeit currency after facing harsh economic realities. He and his best friend Firoz begin to print counterfeit notes and this lands him in deep waters. The show is an action-packed crime drama that combines serious crime with dark humour, which makes it exciting and fun.
Vijay Sethupathi plays Michael, a determined police officer on a mission to shut down the counterfeit network, while Kay Kay Menon essays the role of a powerful and manipulative mastermind. Raashii Khanna, Bhuvan Arora, Zakir Hussain, Chittaranjan Giri, Jaswant Singh Dalal, Amol Palekar and others play key parts in the show too. The show is based on the universe of the popular show of Raj and DK The Family Man, which makes it even more enticing.
Most of the core cast, including Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Bhuvan Arora and Kay Kay Menon, is expected to return for the second season.
Shahid Kapoor’s Upcoming Film
Besides Farzi Season 2, Shahid Kapoor is preparing to release his next big screen project, O’ Romeo, which is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The movie is an adaptation of the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi, and it is a solid ensemble film with Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia and Disha Patani playing the lead roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on February 13, 2026.
With Farzi Season 2 officially in motion, fans can look forward to another thrilling ride packed with crime, drama and dark humour.
