Mumbai: The makers of Dhurandhar have officially announced the title of the film’s much-awaited sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and the excitement around the franchise has instantly gone a notch higher. In addition to the unveiling of the title reveal, there has been an unveiling of a powerful new poster which provides the first intense glimpse into the next chapter of what already is one of the biggest stories in the history of Indian cinema.

A Dark and Intense Poster Sets the Mood

Ranveer Singh took to Instagram to share the new poster, and it is impossible to look away. Soaked in rich reds, the image is the first clue of a shifted darker and more violent direction of the narrative. In the middle, Ranveer is covered with rain and gazes straight with an unflinching and fierce look. Behind him, the words “The Revenge” appear carved into a blood red wall, looming large like a warning. The release date, 19.03.26, is prominently displayed at the top.

Captioning the post, Ranveer wrote, “Ab Bigadne Ka Waqt Aa Gaya Hai. Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Teaser Out Today at 12:12 PM. Releasing in cinemas worldwide on 19th March 2026 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.” Reflecting the film’s massive multilingual release plan, the actor also shared the same poster in all five languages.

What to Expect From Dhurandhar 2

Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues the story of Hamza Ali Mazhari, an Indian undercover intelligence agent who has successfully infiltrated Pakistan’s underworld. This is the greatest trial that Hamza has ever faced after getting rid of Rehman Dakait and ascending the hierarchy of power. His other foe is Major Iqbal, the ISI mastermind who has crossed borders and has the reputation of being known as Bade Sahab.

The sequel promises higher stakes, fiercer action, and a far more ruthless narrative. The appearance of Ranveer Singh with a black trench coat, messy hair, and red blazing background foreshadows the possibility of a more explosive and threatening chapter than the first movie.

The film also stars an ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, adding further weight to its already powerful storyline.

Inspired by Real Events, Aiming for a Bigger Universe

Serving as the second part of a planned two-film series, Dhurandhar is set against the backdrop of a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism operation. It is a narrative of an Indian agent who gets into the criminal syndicates and political power structures of Karachi to destroy a terror network aimed at India. The story is loosely based on various actual geopolitical incidents and conflicts in South Asia such as the IC-814 hijacking of 1999, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and events surrounding Operation Lyari in Pakistan.

Director Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh had already sparked curiosity earlier this week by teasing fans with a simple Instagram post that read, “Tomorrow 12:12,” confirming the teaser drop date of February 3.

A Festival Release With Pan-India Ambitions

Directed, written, and produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar currently holds the title of the biggest Hindi film of all time, cementing its cult status in pop culture. With Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the makers aim to expand the saga into an even bigger and bolder cinematic universe.

The film is set for a grand theatrical release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with major festivals like Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi. It will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam which is a strategic move owing to the massive demand of the franchise in South India.

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, and presented by Jio Studios under the B62 Studios banner, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated spy-action thrillers of the year. Its magnitude, its aspirations, and its dramatic narrative mean that 2026 is already being hailed as the Year of Dhurandhar.
