Mumbai: The countdown has truly begun for Border 2, the first major Bollywood release of the year. With just two days to go for its theatrical release on January 23, the much-awaited war drama has successfully cleared the censor process. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) consequently issued the censor certificate to the makers on Wednesday, January 21, after several days, contributing to the amount of hype regarding the film.

No Cuts in Action or Dialogues, Only Minor Modifications

In a big relief for both the makers and fans, the CBFC has not asked for any cuts in the film’s dialogues or action sequences. This implies that the war scenes that are supposed to be one of the greatest highlights of Border 2 will be viewed just the way the filmmakers wanted.

However, the censor board did suggest a few minor but important changes. The makers were instructed to add the actual name of Fateh Singh for Sunny Deol’s character in the opening credits. Some of the images of the Indian flag in the war plane were changed according to the CBFC guidelines where necessary. Moreover, the warship name displayed in the film was renamed to Kavach.

The board also requested that the time and font size of the information about the warriors should be enhanced so that the tribute to the soldiers is brought out clearly to the viewers.

Emblem Verification and Army Confirmation

At the request of the filmmakers, documents available in the public domain were submitted to the CBFC’s Examining Committee for verification. The topic that was greatly discussed was the emblem displayed on a shoulder of one of the characters.

The producers clarified that the emblem depicted in the film is accurate. They established that it was not only confirmed to the Indian Army but also to the family of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, who plays the role of Varun Dhawan in the movie.

Once all the suggested changes were implemented, Border 2 received a U/A 13+ certificate. The fact that the film does not have a 16+ rating suggests that it might not be gory or too disturbing to young viewers.

Runtime, Cast and Makers

As per the censor certificate, Border 2 has a runtime of 199.07 minutes, which translates to 3 hours, 19 minutes and 7 seconds. The movie has a formidable cast involving Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty among others.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, along with J P Dutta and Nidhi Dutta of J P Films. Direction duties are handled by Anurag Singh, bringing together a mix of scale, emotion and patriotism.

Having the censor clearance finally in the bag and no significant changes made, Border 2 is finally ready to hit the theaters this week, assuring a blockbuster film experience to the lovers of war dramas.
