Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s much awaited reunion film Bhooth Bangla has hit a small delay. The horror comedy, which was earlier announced to release on April 3, 2025, has now been postponed. A new release date is expected to be announced shortly, according to sources close to the project.
It is one of the most anticipated projects in the recent past as it reunites Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, irrespective of the fact that it marks the first release after 14 years. Ekta Kapoor and Akshay Kumar produce Bhooth Bangla that has already created a good buzz among the followers of the pair of popular actors directors.
Why Bhooth Bangla Is Being Delayed
As per exclusive details, the decision to postpone the release has been taken in anticipation of the massive box office impact expected from Dhurandhar 2. Sources have disclosed that Akshay Kumar does not want his movie to be released in the middle of what might become a historic theatrical performance of Indian movie. Earlier Bhoot Bangla was about to release on April 2nd, 2026.
The actor has reportedly taken into account how the first Dhurandhar affected the Christmas release of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Having learned that lesson, Akshay approached producer Ekta Kapoor about the idea of postponing Bhooth Bangla and both agreed to postpone the movie by a month or two.
A Business First Decision
Insiders further shared that Akshay Kumar’s decision is driven purely by business sense rather than ego. He is not someone who believes in holding on to a release date just because it was announced earlier. Akshay himself then decided to postpone his movie after consulting in some detail with Dhurandhar 2 director Aditya Dhar and producer Jyoti Deshpande.
For now, the makers are expected to lock a fresh release window soon. After an over a decade-long absence, the Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan duo is back, so Bhooth Bangla still stands as one of the much-anticipated movies even after the long absence.
