Mumbai: Filmmaker Amar Kaushik, the visionary behind the successful Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), has many major projects in the pipeline. Amar Kaushik in a recent, open interview provided insightful details about his next mythological epic, Mahavatar, and his collaboration with the top stars of Bollywood. He shared major revelations about actors like Vicky Kaushal and Aneet Padda, confirming why his films are built on a foundation of both stellar talent and hard work.

Why Vicky Kaushal Was Cast in the Epic Mahavatar

Amar Kaushik opened up about his ambitious upcoming project, the mythological epic Mahavatar, in which Vicky Kaushal will star as the divine warrior Chiranjeevi Parashurama. The film was initially set for a 2026 release but has since been delayed due to the massive scale of pre production.

Director Amar Kaushik confessed that he had wanted to work with Vicky Kaushal for a long time. He shared the reason why the actor was the perfect fit for the demanding role:

He gives a comfort like feeling that this actor is a pure actor. He talks from the heart. When he sits with you, suddenly you don’t feel that you are talking to a star. He listens to you a lot. He is a very good listener. He will listen to you and understand. And then he will say something correct,” said Amar.

Amar Kaushik’s words highlight Vicky’s down to earth nature and his dedication to the craft, suggesting the actor thinks for the character, not for himself as a star.

The Future of HCU: Aneet Padda is Shakti Shalini

Amar Kaushik made a huge announcement about the next major installment in the HCU, the film Shakti Shalini, revealing that it will be led by actress Aneet Padda. The filmmaker called Shakti Shalini the “most important story in the universe” because it focuses on a largely “unexplored character.” He confirmed that the team was looking for a fresh face to lead the film, and Aneet Padda fit the role perfectly.

Kaushik revealed the reason for casting her

“We were writing it [Shakti Shalini]… and it occurred to us that this story could be the most important story in the universe, and it was a very unexplored character. You know, you don’t know much about anyone.”

He was particularly impressed after seeing her work in the film Saiyaara and recalled the kind of struggle she had during many auditions until she got her YRF biggie. This is a massive validation of her hard work. The shoot of Shakti Shalini is expected to begin in January next year, with a scheduled theatrical release on December 24, 2026.

The MHCU is a Launchpad for New Talent

The conversation revealed that the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has been fully devoted to bringing new talent into the world and marketing them. This was well reflected in the casting of Abhay Verma as the lead in Munjya. The interviewer emphasized that the HCU has made that step in letting newcomers play along, and it shows that the franchise is focused on developing talent as well as the creation of its cinema world.
