Modi said that hearing one lakh voices chant the Gita together created a “unique spiritual energy,” reflecting both India’s ancient heritage and the power of collective consciousness. He added that the divine atmosphere, the presence of saints, and the experience of Krishna darshan were a “supreme fortune.”

Gita’s Words Guide Individuals and National Policies

The Prime Minister emphasized that the teachings of the Gita are timeless, guiding both personal conduct and the nation’s approach to governance. He said that the Gita speaks of working for universal welfare, a principle that forms the basis of several national policies aimed at social upliftment.

Quoting the scripture, he underlined that upholding peace sometimes requires confronting injustice, noting that this principle lies at the core of India’s security policy. Modi referenced how the country balances compassion with resolve, as seen in its responses to recent threats.

Udupi’s Spiritual and Cultural Legacy

Modi described Udupi as a sacred confluence of devotion, Vedantic knowledge and public service, praising the legacy of Jagadguru Madhvacharya, the founder of Dvaita philosophy. He said the Ashta Mathas established here continue to serve millions even after centuries.

Collective Gita Writing and Youth Participation

Modi praised Shri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji for inspiring people across the world to handwrite the Gita, turning it into a global Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna. He said India’s youth connecting with the Gita is a major cultural development.
