Prayagraj: An unusual and controversial protest against the Co-founders of the boAt company, namely Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta, has been carried out by a Prayagraj based entrepreneur called Deepak Goyal. The protest consisted of a “Gutter Snan” where Deepak Goyal dipped the pictures of the two founders into dirty gutter water. The video of the act was shared across social media…
Gutter Snan against boAt Co-founders
Deepak Goyal in the video, clarified that the gutter snan was a symbolic protest which was to demonstrate deep anger of the people. He alleged that boAt company presented one financial statement to the company and other financial statements to the banks. He claimed that this would go on during three financial years; 2023, 2024, and 2025. He termed this as a grave breach of regulations and could damage the confidence in businesses and the banking system.
Deepak Goyal also likened the scenario to that of Kingfisher Airlines whereby similar financial issues were observed prior to the closure of the airline. He told him that he worked as a journalist himself and had witnessed such cases in the past. By this protest, he claimed that he was trying to warn people of what might happen in case such issues are disregarded.

He also claimed that there have been numerous compliance issues within the company in the recent past. All these factors made him say that he specifically picked gutter snan because it signifies societal embarrassment and vehement disapproval.
Another concept popularized by Deepak Goyal is the concept of Digital Snan, which is currently trending in social media as well. Digital snan is a symbolic sacred dipping where an individual has a printed photograph or digital image that is dipped in holy water on behalf of that individual. This is usually performed in religious sites such as the Sangam in Prayagraj particularly during religious meetings. It is supposed to be used by individuals who are unable to go to the sacred site.

Deepak Goyal is a person who provides his services to people through his digital snan service, in which he promises to perform the ritual of people by dipping their photos in the river Sangam. He charges approximately 1,100 on this service. The trend has brought both positive and negative responses, because some people find it beneficial, whereas others are concerned about the application of technology in religious customs.
Here, though, it was not a religious deed but a physical demonstration with gutter water, which obviously was intended to express anger and dissatisfaction and not devotion.
It is worth mentioning that all the statements in the video are the accusations of Deepak Goyal. The official confirmation of these claims and a court decision has not been made yet. The company and the co-founders have neither made any public statement regarding this protest.
