New Delhi: The spirit of the meeting at Tesla, which happened in the annual meeting at Austin, Texas, was rather of a celebration than a serious business event. This was understandable, the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk had just been granted one of the largest pay packages in the history, roughly one trillion dollars. Musk celebrated the event by doing something unanticipated, where he dances on the stage with a human-like robot named Optimus.
They cheered when the robot followed the moves of the man and became part of the crowd. Musk joked and told him other meetings in the company were dull whereas Tesla meetings were very lively. The dance was a good means of celebrating a very serious milestone of both Musk and Tesla.
The remuneration package implies that Musk will stay in charge of Tesla over several years to come. It also provides him with a big role in company shares, basing on the performance of Tesla in the next few years. He currently holds an estimated 12 per cent of the company, though given the targets of Tesla his share would increase to over 25.
It was not merely a dance or a feast to many individuals in the hall. It was a sign of Tesla going beyond electric cars and concentrating on artificial intelligence and robotics.
Musk claimed that the future of Tesla would not only be regarding cars, but also regarding robots, which are able to assist human beings in their daily life. This giant scheme involves the robot on the stage, Optimus.
Elon Musk plans a big change in Tesla
Tesla is already ranked among the most valuable car businesses in the world. It transformed the way people are thinking about clean energy and electric cars. However, Musk has now decided that Tesla should also be a leader in AI and robotics. The dancing robot alongside him is meant to perform simple human actions such as walking, lifting or carrying stuff. Musk is of the view that someday these robots may be used in homes, offices, and factories.
During the same meeting, Musk was grateful to shareholders of Tesla who believed in him as their leader. His huge pay scheme was just approved by them. The package will retain Musk at Tesla over the next 7-8 years, and motivate him to bring the company to the new heights. He claimed that the approval indicates that people have faith in him to make Tesla even stronger and innovative.
Nevertheless, not all of these people are entirely glad about the choice. There are individuals who believe that the remuneration is prohibitive to an individual, even when he happens to be an excellent innovator. According to them Tesla is too reliant on Musk and that might be dangerous. According to others, even without Musk the Tesla company may rather be someone different.
However to his supporters, it is a reward of the hard work and the vision of Musk. They feel that he has transformed the auto industry and he is constantly pushing new boundaries. To them this dance with the robot was their future and may be the time when machines and humans can work together.
It was a lighter side of Musk, too. He has a reputation of being a serious goal setter, but over the years he has shocked the population with his amusing and bizarre deeds. It could be shooting rockets into space, it could be increasing the speed of electric cars, or it could be dancing with a robot, but Musk knows how to keep people glued to the world.
