Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has described the landmark agreement with Google as a “truly historic and auspicious day” for both the state and India. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday, he announced that the state government has signed a landmark agreement with Google to establish a USD 15 billion, gigawatt-scale AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam.
In his post, the Chief Minister called the project the foundation for “India’s first AI City and the largest AI and data hub outside the US,” marking it as one of the biggest technology milestones for the nation.
Connecting the World with the Spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’
Highlighting the far-reaching implications of the deal Shri Naidu noted “Additionally Visakhapatnam will host Google’s cable landing station further strengthening our digital backbone. With this India will now connect the world, bringing the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam alive.”
He emphasized the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence stating that it is the key to solving some of India’s most pressing challenges across sectors from agriculture and manufacturing to healthcare and finance. “It will transform critical sectors bring far-reaching benefits to our people enhance governance, empower businesses, and improve lives” he wrote.

The Chief Minister credited the ambitious project to the “visionary leadership” of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He also extended his gratitude to Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Shri Nara Lokesh, and Google Cloud CEO Mr. Thomas Kurian for their leadership and support.
Ending with a powerful statement of ownership and commitment Shri Naidu declared:
This isn’t just a @Google project this is now our project. India’s AI journey has begun and Andhra Pradesh will lead it.”
The announcement was made during the ‘Bharat AI Shakti’ event in New Delhi, where it was also revealed that the massive investment is set to create thousands of jobs and provide a major boost to the state’s economy.
