New Delhi: Delhi, the national capital, on 4 December transformed into an untraversable fortress as India activated an exceptional, multilayered security apparatus ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit for talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
More than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city, placed on “maximum footing” to provide the highest level of protection to the visiting head of state. The location of Putin’s stay has been kept confidential, underscoring the extreme security norms in place.
From the moment Putin lands in India, every movement will be monitored by multiple specialised units. Top-ranking officials will personally oversee route security, traffic diversions, and area sanitisation, while anti-drone systems will remain active to neutralise any aerial threat.
The multi-layered grid includes SWAT teams, anti-terror squads, sharpshooters, and quick-reaction units stationed at all sensitive points. Strengthening this human shield is a vast network of high-definition CCTV cameras and advanced technical surveillance systems, creating a comprehensive digital and physical safety perimeter around the Russian leader.
Citizens can expect major traffic restrictions and controlled pedestrian movement in key zones throughout the next two days, as the city prioritises the complete security of the visiting dignitary who arrives for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit.
