Mumbai: Tabu walked onto the Bhooth Bangla set with a mix of curiosity and nostalgia and left with a warm sense of belonging. The actress, who last worked with the team in the cult comedy era, says the first day felt both surprising and wonderfully familiar. Her short but candid memories of the set give fans a peek into a reunion built on respect, laughter and shared craft.
Tabu confessed that she had no idea of what was going to happen on the first day since she had never worked with Akshay Kumar since she had spent her life with him. She further disclosed that she and Akshay had never met socially in the years in the past. This old friendship with director, Priyadarshan, gave her the assurance that his style of direction would be no different and she was glad to discover that he still kept his typical style of directing.
Tabu claimed that the working style of Priyadarshan has not changed. He remains impatient in his desire to have something particular and vocal about the way he wants a scene to unfold. According to the actress, the clarity of Priyadarshan and his decisiveness on the set contributes to the focus and productivity of the entire team. She also stated that he likes working with one-take shots frequently, and this makes the energy tight and alive.
Akshay Kumar’s Energy Is Timeless
One of the sweetest takeaways from Tabu’s chat is how she described Akshay Kumar. She said his humour and energy are exactly as she remembered them. He still wakes up at 4 am finishes work early and heads home. His simple life routine and insistence on sleeping early brings calm to the set. Tabu added that while everyone has grown in their craft over the years the essence of who they are remains the same.
Bhooth Bangla now feels like a reunion that blends the old and the new. The film is shaping up to be a horror comedy that brings back a classic team with fresh energy and modern sensibilities. Tabu’s comfort on set and the easy chemistry between the actors promise a film that will connect with both longtime fans and new audiences.
Tabu’s Work Front
After a year without a release in 2025 Tabu is lining up an interesting 2026. Apart from Bhooth Bangla she is also attached to a Tamil Telugu bilingual with director Puri Jagannadh. That project co stars Vijay Sethupathi and will add a pan South flavour to her filmography. These choices show Tabu’s continued appetite for varied and challenging roles across languages and genres.
