Girija Oak Godbole has suddenly become the internet’s new crush. Social media users have lovingly named her the “blue saree wali,” and she is winning hearts all over India. While Girija is already a known name in Marathi cinema, this viral moment has pushed her into the national spotlight in a way she never expected.
Girija Oak’s Viral Clip
The trend began when a video of her interview with The Lallantop became viral. Girija, in the video, told a humorous experience in her college life. She remembered how her physics teacher had questioned the students, What are babes? and just sat there and got lost. The hilarious tale together with the graceful appearance of Girija in blue saree immediately created a love affair in the minds of the internet.
Soon the clip went viral on X (previously Twitter). Her natural beauty was highly praised by users who described her as timeless, elegant, and a breath of fresh air. There were also numerous memes, edits, and fan posts made by many thatt introduced Girija to a much wider Hindi-speaking audience.
Girija revealed that she was amused by all the attention. Her phone kept buzzing nonstop while she was busy rehearsing for her play. She said her friends were messaging her asking if she had seen what was happening on social media. Some even confused her with actor Priya Bapat, and a few pages tried to sexualise her pictures, which her Marathi fans quickly defended.
Despite the mixed reactions, Girija remained calm. She said viral trends come and go, but her work stays. She is happy if more people discover her films through this moment. Her family also stayed unfazed because they come from the film industry and understand how social media works. Girija said that when you are in the public eye, people will always have opinions, and that is something no one can control.
