Mrunal Thakur is all set to headline the action-thriller Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha opposite Adivi Sesh, in a film that promises high emotion, raw vengeance, and a rugged love story. Directed by Shaneil Deo in his debut, the bilingual movie (shot in both Hindi and Telugu) is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang, under the banner of Annapurna Studios.
The story of the movie is based on a falsely convicted man (Adivi Sesh) who leaves his prison to score some points with his former girlfriend, raising the stakes of betrayal, love and justice. In a powerful turn, Anurag Kashyap plays Inspector Swamy, adding weight and menace to the conflict. The movie is to bring out a rough, multi-layered drama featuring supporting actors such as Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni and Zayn Marie Khan. Mrunal, known for her versatility, has said her character (rumoured to be Juliet) will allow her to explore a darker, revenge-driven side, making her role central to the narrative.
The makers recently announced that Dacoit will now release worldwide on 19 March 2026, coinciding with Ugadi, Gudi Padwa and Eid.
