New Delhi: One of the most well-known companies in the world in terms of computer chips, Nvidia declared that they will export approximately 260,000 potent AI chips to South Korea. The government and large corporations such as Samsung, SK Group, and Hyundai will use these chips to create new technologies, smarter automobiles and more powerful AI systems.
Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, was invited in South Korea and attended multiple meetings with high-rank leaders and entrepreneurs of the country. He was interested in discussing the possibility of the two-sides to collaborate to develop in the sphere of artificial intelligence (AI).
South Korea also desires to be a leader in AI, as it is already a leader in manufacturing phones, TVs and cars. A national AI cloud is a super-fast computer system that any government plans to use approximately 50,000 chips in developing a national AI cloud that will be used to store and process large data volumes.
Such companies as Samsung and Hyundai will also obtain numerous chips to produce new products and enhance their plants. To illustrate, Hyundai desires to create more intelligent and safer self-driving vehicles with the help of AI. These chips are desired by Samsung and SK group to use in semiconductor research and smart electronics.
All this will assist South Korea to generate new employment, as well as utilize modern technology better in all aspects of life including transport, communication and health care.
The friendliness dinner to Samsung, Jay Y. Lee and Hyundai, Euisun Chung was one of the most discussed events of Jensen Huang visit. They had a chance to meet because of a simple fried chicken and beer meal, which is very typical of the Korean culture, called chimaek (chicken + maekju, meaning beer).
The three business leaders were laughing, conversing and exchanging their ideas on how the AI and chips will determine the world in the years to come. This encounter indicated that business is not necessarily about making speeches all the time, in some cases, cordial talks might also result in making big business.
Politics and Chip Rules
Although the visit was joyful and accompanied by good intentions, the challenges are still a few. These AI chips are highly powerful and its export is subject to certain strict regulations developed by the U.S. government.

The regulations exist to ensure that such chips do not end up in places or organizations that may misuse them. South Korea and Nvidia have however learnt how to co-operate under these laws. Lots of analysts believe that this transaction can also assist in lessening strains between nation states and result in a more equal state of technology distribution in Asia.
The future of Nvidia and of Korea:
It is not just a sale of chips. It is about creating the future of technology. Now, South Korea is able to develop more powerful AI systems, novel robots and intelligent factories. However, Nvidia will obtain additional partners and a bigger foundation in Asia.
These chips will be soon used by Korean companies to create powerful computers that can learn and think like human beings to assist in most things that humans are involved in such as driving cars to designing of new products.
Providing everything is good, South Korea may turn out to be one of the most developed AI centers in the global context. The talent and the machines are already available in the country and with the assistance of Nvidia the country now has the proper chips.
