New Delhi, September 12 (HS): Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday made his first public appearance since resigning from office, as he attended the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Republic Mandap of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Dhankhar, who was accompanied by his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, extended warm congratulations to Radhakrishnan on assuming the country’s second-highest constitutional post. He wished him success in his new tenure, remarking that Radhakrishnan’s leadership and experience would open new chapters in the service of the nation.
The ceremony also saw the presence of former Vice President Hamid Ansari, underscoring the constitutional importance of the occasion.
Dhankhar had resigned from the vice-presidential post on July 21 and had largely stayed away from public life since then. His reappearance at the oath-taking is being viewed with considerable political significance.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister J.P. Nadda, and the entire Union Cabinet. Chief Ministers, including Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, along with leaders of NDA allies, were also present at the ceremony.
