The Korean drama ‘The Remarried Empress’ sets a new record for local original premieres on Disney+ and Hulu just days after its launch.

Korean drama ‘The Remarried Empress’ has made history by becoming the most viewed local original premiere on Disney+ and Hulu globally, achieving this remarkable feat just three days after its launch on November 3, 2026.

The series has topped the charts as the number one Korean title premiere in over 50 markets, including major territories such as the U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, and several European and Asian countries. This unprecedented success follows a surge of anticipation that began with the world premiere of its initial episodes at the Busan International Film Festival in October.

In a show of appreciation for fans’ enthusiasm, Disney+ decided to release the series a day earlier than originally scheduled. The trailer for ‘The Remarried Empress’ garnered an impressive 13 million views within the first 48 hours across YouTube and social media platforms, while the original webtoon it is based on has accumulated a staggering 3 billion views.

The narrative centres around Empress Navier, portrayed by Shin Mina, and her tumultuous relationship with Emperor Sovieshu, played by Ju Jihoon. The plot thickens as the Emperor falls for a runaway slave, leading the Empress to negotiate her own future by seeking to remarry Crown Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, portrayed by Lee Jongsuk.

Directed by Cho Suwon, the series is adapted from a popular webtoon and features a talented cast including Lee Seyoung as the escaped slave Rashta. Following the initial release, Disney+ and Hulu will continue to roll out new episodes, with two episodes available every Wednesday until the series finale on November 25.
