Vijay Sethupathi hints at Maharaja sequel
Speaking about the possibility of a sequel, Vijay Sethupathi said that the filmmaker has already written the script and he is looking forward to listening to it. His statement has sparked excitement among fans who have been waiting for an update since the first film became a big success.
The Maharaja of the past was unique in terms of its narration and poignancy. The novel is about one of the most basic barbers in Chennai who enters a police station to present a complaint of his stolen steel dustbin referred to as Lakshmi. What at first seems to be a weird complaint turns out to be a lot more sinister.
As the case is being investigated, the police are able to realize that the strange complaint is in reality a brilliant scheme. The barber takes it as a means of tracing three thugs who had invaded his house and raped his daughter when he was absent. The film is centered around the dramatic quest of a father in search of justice.
The film had an outstanding ensemble cast of Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty Subramaniam, Abhirami, Divyabharathi, Singampuli, Aruldoss and Munishkanth in key roles. The movie can be streamed on Netflix now.

Sethupathi also talked of working with director Thiagarajan Kumararaj on the next film Pocket Novel. The actor has mentioned that working with Kumarararaj gives him comfort and responsibility but also mentions that the hard work of the director drives the rest of the team to put in extra caution in the production of the film. This is their second project together following their award winning movie Super Deluxe and also includes Malavika Mohanan and Raj B. Shekey in major roles.
