Mumbai: The release plans for the upcoming romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai have officially changed. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, the film was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 5, 2026. However, the makers have now decided to postpone the release by a week. The film will now hit cinemas on June 12. The decision comes soon after the makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups announced a major change in their release strategy, shifting their film from March 19 to June 4.

The makers of the romantic entertainer said that it was done to protect the peace of the film industry and the avoidance of undue box office rivalry. The development was confirmed by producer Ramesh Taurani, who is the Managing Director of Tips Films. He explained that the date of June 5 was announced several months ago but there were recent developments making the team change their plan. Taurani also said that filmmakers should always support each other rather than compete on the same day. The makers chose to release their film a week later in the spirit of solidarity.

Release shuffle triggered by Toxic

The shift came after the makers of Toxic surprised fans by postponing their much awaited action drama starring Yash. The film was initially set to release on March 19, but the team decided to delay it due to the ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East.

In an elaborate note, the creators clarified that the movie was an international project meant to appeal to audiences of diverse nations. The film was shot in Kannada and English with an intention of reaching out to the audience in India and beyond. The producers said that the situation in the Middle East made it hard to secure the largest possible coverage of the film on the earlier date, which created the situation to push the worldwide release to June 4, 2026.

According to reports, the discussion between both production teams happened well before the official announcements. The spokesperson of KVN Productions has disclosed that after the owner of Mr. Venkat noted that the two film releases were overlapping, the owner personally contacted Taurani to see to it that there were no clashes between the two projects. A film distributor Anil Thadani was supposedly involved in enabling the dialogue so that both parties would know that a clash might come, and manage it effectively.

What to expect from Varun Dhawan’s romantic comedy

Despite the change in release date, the promotional campaign for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will continue as planned. The makers are expected to launch the film’s lively soundtrack and trailer soon to build excitement ahead of its new mid June release. Directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the film marks the fourth collaboration between the director and his son Varun Dhawan after Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No.1.

It is claimed that the movie is all about a love triangle between the three main characters. It tells about a man who has been rejected in relationships many times and later develops a strategy to reverse his fortunes. The ensemble cast with the lead trio consists of Maniesh Paul, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Sheirgill, Chunky Pandey, Rajesh Kumar, Rakesh Bedi, Kubbra Sait, and Ali Asgar playing significant roles.

Now that the new release schedule is on board, the first movie that the audiences will watch is the high octane Toxic, starring Yash, released on June 4, then on June 12, the romances comedy enter-taining movie Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai will be released. The synchronized action brings out the fact that even filmmakers are opting to work together rather than go to the box office blows to get big ones out with ease.
