Mumbai: Hrithik Roshan’s return as India’s favourite superhero Krrish has been one of the most awaited moments in Indian cinema. Ever since the release of Krrish 3, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next chapter in the blockbuster franchise. Hrithik finally confirmed Krrish 4 with Yash Raj Films after several years of speculation, indicating that he was not only going to become the lead in the film, but also become a director with this big project. Nevertheless, the buzz has now been cooled down because new reports have indicated that the movie has struck a huge setback.
Budget Differences Put Krrish 4 on Hold
According to reliable industry sources, Krrish 4 has currently been pushed to the back burner due to creative and financial differences between Hrithik Roshan and Yash Raj Films head Aditya Chopra. The main point of disagreement reportedly revolves around the film’s massive budget.
Sources reveal that Hrithik envisions Krrish 4 as a grand-scale superhero spectacle with a budget close to Rs. 500 crores, aiming to deliver a world-class cinematic experience. To him, however, Aditya Chopra feels that the project would remain in a more manageable budget of about Rs. 350 crores. Following the multiple stages of discussions, the two failed to find a shared ground and the project was put on a temporary halt.
Hrithik Explores New Options and Script Rework
Despite the setback, Hrithik is said to be taking a practical approach to the situation. He has been quoted as having received Aditya Chopra in positive terms and is currently rewriting parts of the script to strike a balance between creative ambition and budgetary constraints.
At the same time, the actor is exploring the possibility of collaborating with another production house for Krrish 4. It is in the process of negotiating with other studios to possibly finance the film and the script is being readjusted to fit a more scaled-down budget proposal.
In the meantime, Hrithik is not planning to stay away from the big screen for too long. He is currently reading several scripts and is likely to lock his next acting job in the nearest future. It is reported that this next announcement will be a pleasant surprise to the fans.
Krrish 4 Likely Pushed to 2027
With these developments, Krrish 4 is now unlikely to go on floors this year. The movie is now moved to 2027 to allow the creators ample time to work out the budget issue and develop the production logistics. At that point, either Yash Raj Films can agree with the vision of Hrithik, or the actor-director can find another producer.
While fans may have to wait a little longer to see Hrithik Roshan don the iconic cape again, expectations remain sky-high. The Krrish franchise occupies a special status in the Indian cinema and whenever Krrish 4 finally launches off, it is likely to be nothing less than an event in terms of film.
