Mumbai: Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar may have released late in December 2025, but it still went on to become the biggest film of the year. With its gritty storytelling and striking performances, the espionage thriller struck a chord with audiences across the country. The never seen before character of Ranveer Singh, the chilling role of Akshaye Khanna as the character of Rehman Dakait and the swagger of Sanjay Dutt, and the beast mode of Arjun Rampal came together to make the movie a huge movie ode.
Naturally, expectations from the sequel, titled Dhurandhar The Revenge, are already sky high. And now, a new casting rumour involving Salman Khan has set social media buzzing.
Who is Bade Sahab and why fans are excited
The character of Bade Sahab was first referenced in Dhurandhar by Sanjay Dutt’s SP Aslam. The name is used later in the Hamza journal, which is played by Ranveer Singh, when he strikes off the name of Rehman Dakait. These small clues made the fans think that Bade Sahab was going to be a strong character that would be brought out in the follow up.

Recently, a picture of Salman Khan from what appears to be a film set began circulating online. This immediately sparked speculation that Bollywood’s Bhaijaan might be stepping into the role of Bade Sahab in Dhurandhar The Revenge. Although the fact that Salman is even considering joining the franchise excites some of the fans, there are those who are rather sceptical; they say that the image might be AI generated or could be an old photo during one of his Tiger franchise shoots.
Salman Khan’s viral photo fuels debate

The viral post featuring Salman Khan claims that the superstar is part of the second installment of the Ranveer Singh starrer. The fact that the leak came when it did has been a step further in creating more fire because the makers are still shooting more scenes in the film. Nevertheless, the production team has not confirmed this officially yet.
Adding to the intrigue, earlier rumours had suggested possible cameo appearances by Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal, both of whom share a strong professional history with director Aditya Dhar through Uri The Surgical Strike. With the name of Salman Khan appearing in the discussion, however, the fans are convinced that the sequel is perhaps hoping to achieve an even greater element of surprise.
What we know about Dhurandhar The Revenge so far
Dhurandhar The Revenge is expected to arrive in theatres in March this year. The sequel continues to build on the espionage driven universe introduced in the first film, which combined political tension, covert operations, and layered characters. Having Ranveer Singh reclaim Hamza role and leaving some unanswered questions after the original, the sequel is set to take the area to another level.
Whether Salman Khan is indeed playing Bade Sahab or not remains to be seen. Until an official announcement is made, the viral photo and online chatter have certainly succeeded in keeping Dhurandhar The Revenge firmly in the spotlight. To the fans, the prospect of introducing Salman Khan into the gritty spy world in Aditya Dhar is thrilling enough to keep the speculation alive.
