Mumbai: Fans of Kapil Sharma were in for an unpleasant surprise as the planned re release of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has been cancelled at the very last moment. The comedy film was scheduled to return to cinema halls on Friday, January 9, giving audiences another chance to watch the entertainer on the big screen. Nevertheless, many moviegoers have been disappointed at the sudden decision.

Several viewers who missed the film during its original theatrical run were looking forward to catching it this time. Regrettably, the producers have chosen to cancel the re release only a day before its theatrical appearance.

Why Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 Re Release Was Cancelled

According to a source close to the development, the decision was taken after issues with screen availability. The studio partner and distributor of the film, Star Studio18, had originally promised the second run in 500-screen theaters. They however, allegedly only acquired 200 to 250 screens, most of which had inconvenience show timings.

The producers, Venus, were not satisfied with this limited and uneven release plan. Consequently, there was an ultimate decision made on the night of Thursday, January 8 to cancel the re release entirely instead of taking the film back under such a tattered state.

The source further revealed that the team wanted the film to get better visibility and reach this time, something they felt would not be possible with the available screen count and odd show slots.

Film’s Original Run and Future Prospects

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 originally released on December 12 but had a short theatrical run. It has been dragged off theatres as mega-releases such as Dhurandhar and Avatar Fire And Ash took over the screen space. The film was not given enough showcasing as the producers felt that they needed to re release the film at a more appropriate time.

Nevertheless, despite the slowed down holdover releases, the movie reportedly did not get the amount of screens the makers wanted. This led to the drastic decision to cancel the re release altogether.

An industry expert shared that it remains unclear whether Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 will be re released at a later date. The professional further indicated that the movie has truly been enjoyed by viewers and is deemed to be one among the handful of recent comedies that were able to provide steady laughs during theatres.
