Mumbai: Veteran actor Anupam Kher has achieved a rare and historic milestone in Indian cinema. On January 3, 2026, the celebrated actor began work on his 550th film, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, marking another remarkable chapter in a career that has spanned over four decades. The film has officially gone on floors in Delhi, adding emotional weight to the moment as Kher revisits one of his most loved characters.
Taking to social media, Anupam Kher shared a deeply personal note, calling this achievement a moment of gratitude rather than closure. In the Cannes film festival last year, he disclosed that an international film director called him the Marathon Man of Indian Cinema after hearing about the number of films he starred in. The title clearly stayed with him, as he reflected on his long and resilient journey.
“Dreams Have No Expiry Date,” Says Anupam Kher
Looking back, Kher recalled arriving in Mumbai on June 3, 1981, without ever imagining that he would one day reach such a landmark. Starting his 550th film, he wrote that his heart is filled with thankfulness and gratitude. Although the figure is staggering, the actor is sure that he is not finished. He described this phase as the “interval point” of his life and career, adding that dreams never have an expiry date.
The actor credited his longevity to optimism, perseverance and consistent hard work. He also admitted that how he managed to survive in the industry all these years could not be possible without the help of producers, directors, co actors, technicians and above all the audience. He ended his note with words of faith and pride, signing off with “Jai Ho! Jai Hind! Om Namah Shivay!”
On set, the team of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 celebrated the milestone with warmth and affection. The cast and crew were thanked, and Kher described it as something special to go back to the sets of what he described as a cult classic. He wished everybody good luck in the sequel, and he is eager to continue the story.
All About Khosla Ka Ghosla 2
Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is the sequel to Dibakar Banerjee’s 2006 hit Khosla Ka Ghosla, a film that continues to resonate with audiences for its humour and sharp take on real life issues like property scams and generational conflicts. In the original, Kamal Kishore Khosla was portrayed by Anupam Kher as a middle class father whose plight was very relatable.
Vinay Pathak, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Parvinn Dabass and Tara Sharma also performed important roles in the first film and the film has gained cult status among Hindi film lovers over the years. The sequel is reportedly being directed by Umesh Bist, best known for Pagglait. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 will revive the Khosla family in a new environment with the humour and emotional touch which made the first one to be so memorable.
Producer Savita Raj had earlier confirmed plans for the sequel in a 2024 interview, stating that the team was excited to reunite for part two. With filming now underway, expectations are high. As Anupam Kher embarks on his 550th film, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 stands not just as a sequel to a beloved movie, but also as a celebration of an actor whose passion for cinema shows no signs of slowing down.
