Mumbai: Television actors Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij have finally put an end to months of speculation surrounding their personal lives. On January 4, Jay confirmed through a heartfelt social media statement that he and Mahhi have mutually decided to separate. The couple, who have known each other more than 16 years and are married more than a decade, emphasized that the move was made with maturity, respect and the well being of their children being the heart of the picture.
Jay shared a long note on Instagram, which was co signed by Mahhi, Jay agreed that the two were taking different walks in life but remain supportive of each other. They made it clear that there is no bitterness or blame involved and requested privacy and kindness as they move forward.

In their statement, Jay and Mahhi said that peace, growth, kindness and humanity have always guided their relationship, especially when it comes to their children. They affirmed that though they are moving apart as lovers, they are still together as parents.
The couple assured fans that they are fully committed to co parenting their three children, Tara, Khushi and Rajveer. They said that they will remain the best parents, best friends and a great support system to their kids. Emphasising clarity, they added that there is no negativity attached to their separation and urged people not to jump to conclusions.
Jay concluded the note by asking for respect, love and kindness from fans and well wishers. He said that he and Mahhi will still be friends and support each other just as they always have.

Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij’s love story began when they first met at a club. There have been numerous occasions that Jay has talked of how he only had to spend three months before he realised that Mahhi was the woman he had to get married to. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2010.
Over the years, Jay and Mahhi became foster parents to Rajveer and Khushi, a decision that earned them admiration from fans. In 2019, they welcomed their daughter Tara through IVF, completing their family.
Instead of treating the rumours of trouble in their marriage with seriousness in 2025, Mahhi had at the time refuted the allegations, requesting fans not to believe anything he or she had not said directly. With this official announcement, the couple has now addressed the speculation on their own terms.
