New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team took the field in pink jerseys during the third ODI against Australia, not as a style statement but as part of a significant awareness campaign. The initiative was aimed at spreading the message of breast cancer awareness.

The campaign was supported by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with SBI Life. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, in a video message before the match, emphasized that the pink jersey was not just a piece of clothing but a symbol to encourage women to perform Breast Self-Examination at least once a month. She underlined that timely detection and awareness can play a crucial role in controlling the disease.

This was India’s final ODI before the upcoming Women’s World Cup, making the occasion especially meaningful for delivering a social message. Wearing pink to promote cancer awareness is a global tradition in sport, and the Indian women’s team has now added its voice to this cause.

Fans and cricket experts alike praised the initiative, noting that sport is not only about competition and entertainment but also a powerful platform to inspire social change.
