Chennai, 20 September (H.S.) : Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay has openly challenged the ruling DMK government, accusing it of imposing restrictions on his political meetings while sparing those of prominent national leaders. Speaking at a massive rally in Puthur, Vijay questioned the DMK’s motives, asking if they would dare to impose similar curbs, such as disrupting power or restricting movement, on the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah.

Vijay detailed the alleged restrictions, stating that his free movement had been restrained and that power supply to his speeches had been disrupted, including an instance in Tiruchirappalli where the speaker’s wire was reportedly cut. He cautioned the DMK government against being “tyrannical” towards the TVK.

In addition to his direct accusations, Vijay criticized Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s foreign trips, questioning whether they were genuinely for securing investments for the state or for personal financial gain abroad. The TVK leader also took the opportunity to highlight what he perceives as a lack of development in the Nagapattinam district, citing the absence of a government marine college and underdeveloped tourism.

Vijay concluded his address by asserting that his party would not be intimidated by threats, declaring that the 2026 contest would be a direct competition between the TVK and the DMK. He also stated that while the DMK only writes letters to the Prime Minister regarding the issues of fishermen and Sri Lankan Tamils, the TVK’s agenda is to find a lasting solution.
