Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan, now 51, has revealed how he transformed not just his body but his health and mindset. Within months, he dropped from 102-103 kg to about 78-79 kg, losing around 25 kilograms. But he says the turning point wasn’t the workouts it was quitting alcohol.
Fardeen shared in a recent interview with Cyrus Broacha that during the COVID-19 lockdown, he decided to stop drinking altogether.
I was feeling bloody 60 years old … Now, when you wake up, you feel clean, sober,”
he said. He described how alcohol had dulled his energy, clouded his clarity, and affected his overall well-being.
Alongside sobriety, Fardeen restructured his lifestyle: adopting a fasting window of 15-16 hours, focusing on home-cooked meals rich in protein and healthy fats, cutting down on sugar and excess carbs, and incorporating a regimen of strength training and cardio.
He even converted his garage in London into a makeshift workout space and trained virtually under professional guidance.
He credits not just appearance but mental and emotional health for motivating the change. His children inspired him to become more active so he could enjoy life more fully whether that meant hiking with them or engaging in outdoor play.
Fardeen’s journey stands out as a powerful example of how one major lifestyle shift — in his case, giving up alcohol coupled with consistent fitness and diet changes, can lead to radical health improvements.
