In a major breakthrough against illegal arms smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Strike Operation Cell (SSOC) Fazilka have seized 27 pistols, 54 magazines, and 470 live cartridges in a joint operation carried out along the Punjab border. The raid, conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs, resulted in the arrest of two smugglers linked to the cache.

The operation took place near Mahar Khiva Mansa village under the cover of darkness, when security personnel intercepted the suspects attempting to move weapons into the interior. According to officials, the first accused, a resident of Mahar Khiva Mansa, was apprehended following surveillance. His interrogation led authorities to arrest his associate from Teja Rohella village soon after. Both men are currently in SSOC custody for further questioning.

Authorities confirmed that the cache was intended for distribution within Punjab and possibly beyond. The BSF noted that the swift action was possible due to accurate intelligence and coordinated field operations.

Security analysts have described the seizure as a significant blow to the arms trafficking network operating across the border. Investigations are now focused on tracing the supply chain, cross-border handlers, and local networks that might have been linked to this smuggling attempt

The Fazilka bust underscores the importance of vigilance along Punjab’s sensitive border areas. With weapons seizures on the rise, intelligence-led operations and close coordination between central and state agencies remain critical to dismantling smuggling syndicates and safeguarding internal security.
