New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth approximately ₹66 crore in Gujarat’s Sanand Assembly constituency. Speaking from New Delhi, he highlighted that these initiatives were part of a broader strategy to provide sustained socio-economic uplift to the region.

A total of 52 projects were launched, with a focus on rural roads, healthcare, sanitation, afforestation, and school infrastructure. Additionally, work on expanding water supply infrastructure—spanning 111 villages—is underway, featuring an investment of ₹750 crore already in action and ₹1,000 crore earmarked for the next phase targeting household and agricultural use.

Shah also revealed ₹150 crore in CSR-backed projects, developed in close coordination with local officials, to bridge remaining gaps in amenities such as roads, schools, and sanitation.

The Home Minister underscored a vision of seamless development, ensuring that by 2029, no village in Sanand will lack basic infrastructure. Industrial growth, along with the upcoming Dholera Special Investment Region, supports this ambition, cementing Sanand’s status as Gujarat’s most industrially advanced tehsil.

In a wider context, during a recent event in Gandhinagar, Shah also launched the Dial 112 Janrakshak Emergency Response Support System—a modernized single helpline integrating police, ambulance, fire, and disaster services. More than 500 “Janrakshak” vehicles were deployed to improve response times—underlining Gujarat’s leadership in smart governance.

Meanwhile, Sanand’s industrial ecosystem faces a fresh challenge: at least 300 manufacturing units including multinationals have received tax notices from Hirapur Gram Panchayat, sparking protests over perceived double taxation—despite assurances that 75% of property tax would be returned to industry. Legal action is underway, and investor sentiment is closely balancing between infrastructure optimism and regulatory friction.

Amit Shah’s inauguration of ₹66 crore worth of projects marks a decisive push toward holistic regional development in Sanand. With expanding water infrastructure, road networks, green initiatives, and public facilities, the groundwork is being laid for sustainable growth. Yet, amid ambitious plans, managing policy clarity especially with industry will be key to ensuring Sanand’s potential translates into equitable progress.
