Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has sounded an alarm over rising cyber crimes targeting children after revealing a disturbing personal incident involving his 13-year-old daughter Nitara. Speaking at the Cyber Awareness Month 2025 event held in Mumbai, the actor said that a stranger asked his daughter to send nude photos while she was playing an online game.
One day, while my daughter was playing an online game, a person asked if she was a girl. When she said yes, he asked her to send nude photos. Thankfully, she immediately shut down the game and told her mother about it,” Akshay Kumar shared.
The actor called this incident a “real example” of how easily cyber criminals infiltrate children’s spaces through games and social media, adding that “cybercrime has now become more dangerous than street crime.”
Akshay Kumar’s revelation shocked the audience, which included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior police officials. He urged parents to be more digitally aware and maintain open communication with their children.
If Nitara had been scared or silent, things could have been worse. Parents must ensure that children feel safe to talk about anything uncomfortable they encounter online,” he said.
The actor appealed to the government and educational institutions to make cyber safety education mandatory in schools from Classes 7 to 10.
We teach our kids history and math, but not how to stay safe on the internet. Every school should have a Cyber Period where students learn about online security, fraud, and privacy,” Akshay emphasized.
He further noted that children today are growing up in an era of digital exposure where predators often disguise themselves behind friendly messages and gaming avatars.
Akshay Kumar who has often used his platform for social causes described this as a national educational necessity not just a family issue.
This is not only a police or legal matter. It’s a collective responsibility of parents, schools, and digital platforms to ensure the safety of our children online,” he stated.
Experts attending the event echoed his sentiment calling for stricter monitoring mechanisms and awareness campaigns to prevent online exploitation of minors.
The actor’s candid revelation highlights the growing threat of digital exploitation faced by children worldwide. As technology becomes an inseparable part of everyday life Akshay Kumar’s appeal for structured cyber education in schools may serve as a much-needed step toward safer digital future
