New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought focus to two transformative infrastructure milestones the Bairabi-Sairang railway line in Mizoram and the Great Nicobar Island Project presenting them as symbols of India’s inclusive growth and strategic vision.

In a post from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on X, the Prime Minister amplified Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s article on the newly inaugurated Bairabi-Sairang railway line. Connecting Mizoram for the first time to India’s national rail network, the line is expected to boost trade, create new economic opportunities, and integrate the North-East more closely with the rest of the country. “The North-East is no longer a frontier waiting for progress but central to India’s growth story,” the PMO post emphasized.

Complementing this, Modi also highlighted Union Minister Bhupender Yadav’s article on the Great Nicobar Island Project, calling it an initiative of “strategic, defence and national importance.” The project aims to establish the island as a key maritime and air connectivity hub in the Indian Ocean Region, balancing developmental imperatives with ecological safeguards.

“This project is a prime example of economy and ecology complementing each other,” Modi noted, underlining the model of sustainable development embedded in the Great Nicobar initiative.

By showcasing these two projects together, the Prime Minister has signaled his government’s commitment to regional integration, connectivity expansion, and strategic infrastructure as the pillars of India’s long-term growth story.
