Mumbai: The teaser of the upcoming Kannada film Toxic, starring Yash, has landed in controversy days after its release. The Women’s Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party has submitted a formal complaint to the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, objecting to certain visuals in the teaser and demanding immediate action.
In the complaint, the party has presented a claim that the teaser has images that it claims to be obscene and unfit to be viewed by the general population. They say that the content adversely impacts the social welfare of women and children and is not in line with the Kannada cultural values.
AAP Demands Immediate Withdrawal of the Teaser

The AAP Women’s Wing has urged the Commission to direct the Karnataka State Government to withdraw or cancel the teaser with immediate effect. The complaint also demands the teaser be removed on social media platforms saying that it was uploaded unaccompanied with age restriction or warning.
Speaking after submitting the complaint, AAP State Secretary Usha Mohan requested swift intervention from the Women’s Commission. She also urged the police and the state authorities to step in and ensure such content is not circulated publicly in the future. The party has also insisted on the creation of tougher legislation to control any visual material that is being published on the mass media platforms in the name of keeping underage children safe and ensuring that social morality is upheld.
The Scene That Sparked the Controversy
The teaser of Toxic was unveiled on January 8, marking Yash’s 40th birthday. Among the most debated scenes is one where Yash is in a dark and stylised environment with a woman in a car. The sequence relies heavily on visual suggestion rather than dialogue and has now become the main point of contention.
Last week, a section of social media users also criticised director Geetu Mohandas, accusing the teaser of objectifying women. In reaction to the backlash, the filmmaker posted an enigmatic message in her Instagram Stories indicating the ideas of female pleasure, consent, and female negotiating power systems.
While criticism continues, director Ram Gopal Varma came out in strong support of Geetu Mohandas. He praised the teaser on social media, calling her a symbol of women empowerment and applauding the boldness of the visuals.
Toxic is a powerful ensemble starring Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. It is one of the most anticipated movies of 2026, and it will be released on March 19 and will compete in the box office with Dhurandhar Part 2.
As the controversy unfolds, all eyes are now on the Karnataka State Women’s Commission and the response from the makers of Toxic.
