Mumbai: Vijay Sethupathi is riding high on a packed lineup of exciting projects, and the actor has now added another major film to his list. He recently in a conversation had affirmed him that he is soon to reunite with the legendary filmmaker, Mani Ratnam, in a new project. Sai Pallavi will also be acting as the female lead in the upcoming film, and this will be her first with the renowned director.
Speaking to Variety India, Vijay Sethupathi opened up about the collaboration and shared his excitement about working with Mani Ratnam once again. He remembered their previous collaboration in the 2018 movie Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and he shared that the new venture will venture into a different territory altogether. The actor claims that even after making it as a star, the hunger and passion of the young Vijay Sethupathi who used to go in search of minor roles remains fresh in him. He further stated that he still feels a great joy being in front of the camera and saying his lines, regardless of the scale of project.
While the makers have not yet revealed the title or story details, reports suggest that the film will be a romantic drama. The combination of Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi under the direction of Mani Ratnam is already providing much hype to the movie-goers and film critics, as they anticipate the work of this strong trio in the big screen.
Vijay Sethupathi’s Busy Lineup of Films Ahead
On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi has several exciting projects lined up. He is soon to appear in the action thriller Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road, by Puri Jagannadh. Sanyuktha and Tabu are co-leads in the film and the film is expected to demonstrate a mighty and vehement avatar of Vijay.
Another major project in his lineup is Pocket Novel, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja. This is a second time collaboration of the two following a critically acclaimed Super Deluxe, which had Malavika Mohanan and Raj B. Shetty taking key roles. The anticipations on this film are one of the highest since the two have already had a successful film.
Adding to the excitement, Vijay Sethupathi will also make a special cameo appearance in Rajinikanth’s much awaited film Jailer 2. His presence in the sequel has already sparked curiosity among fans.
Currently, the actor is also part of the film Arasan, headlined by Silambarasan TR and directed by Vetrimaaran. The film is a spin of the renowned Vada Chennai universe spearheaded by Dhanush. Yogalakshmi (Tourist Family) and Chaitra J. Achar (Sapta Sagaradaache Ello fame) are the female leads in the film. The music and background scores are being composed by Anirudh Ravichander and the second film schedule is likely to start soon.
