Mumbai: Dhurandhar continues to stay in the spotlight, not just for its gripping narrative but also for its music, which has found massive popularity across platforms. The title song of the movie and the entry song of Akshaye Khanna Fa9la are already social media hits and other songs in the album are hitting the charts.

Among them, the energetic dance number Shararat has drawn attention for its lavish visuals and vibrant choreography. The song includes Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza, which makes the film interesting and full of liveliness. However, a recent revelation by the film’s choreographer has added an interesting layer to the buzz around the track.

Tamannaah Bhatia Was the First Choice

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly, in an interview with Filmgyan, explained that Tamannaah Bhatia was his first choice to play Shararat. In his view, she perfectly matched his song vision. But director Aditya Dhar had a very clear vision of the purpose of using the song to the film story.

Vijay stated that Aditya did not wish the song to be like a solo act or so-called item number. The director felt that focusing on a single star performer would shift attention away from the narrative. If Tamannaah had featured in the song, the spotlight would have been on her rather than on the story being told in the film.

Why Two Dancers Made More Sense

Aditya Dhar eventually convinced the choreographer to rethink the concept. The decision to have two dancers was taken instead of focusing the song on one performer. This approach ensured that the song blended naturally into the film without becoming a distraction.

Vijay Ganguly said that too much was already happening in the movie by this time, and breaking away from the storyline for a glamorous solo number would have weakened the impact. The idea was to keep the song within the sphere of the film rather than turning it into a separate spectacle.

Shararat’s Place in Dhurandhar’s Story

Shararat appears during an elaborate wedding sequence set against the backdrop of a grand, high-society Karachi celebration. Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza play performers hired to entertain the guests, delivering a lively and engaging dance that matches the scale of the event.

Despite the high-energy performance, it is Akshaye Khanna who once again leaves a strong impression. His limited but impressive appearance as Rehman Dakait, who comes to the wedding with his wife, overshadows the dancers and solidifies his overpowering presence in the movie.

Shararat is an example of how Dhurandhar balances music, performance and narrative in a highly thoughtful way. The behind-the-scenes is just another element of the intrigue as it reveals how attentive creative decisions influenced one of the most discussed songs of the movie.
