Mumbai: Sunny Deol, who is currently enjoying a strong theatrical run with Border 2, is gearing up for another exciting project. The actor is all set to share screen space with Jyotika in an upcoming action thriller that already has film lovers talking. What is even more fascinating about this project is the heavy production support where Farhan Akhtar and renowned filmmaker AR Murugadoss will be working together in the first time.
This film marks a fresh pairing, a new director, and a unique collaboration behind the scenes, making it one of the most awaited action projects lined up for next year.
Sunny Deol and Jyotika Come Together for a High Octane Thriller
As of the recent reports, Sunny Deol and Jyotika will star in an action thriller led by Balaji Ganesh. This will be the directorial debut of Balaji Ganesh who already has a long history of involvement in the industry, and whose role and the scale of this project have raised already high expectations. The yet to be titled movie is scheduled to go on floors in February 2026.
The project is being co produced by Farhan Akhtar and AR Murugadoss, marking their first collaboration as producers. While the makers have not officially announced the title, a clapboard image from the film’s preparation reportedly suggests the name Antony. However, it is still unclear if this will be the final title or just a working one.
Balaji Ganesh is not new to big scale cinema. He had earlier served as an assistant director with AR Murugadoss and worked on the film Sikandar of Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. This experience has added to the curiosity around how he will shape his first film as a director.
Sunny Deol’s Current Box Office Run With Border 2
On the work front, Sunny Deol is currently in theatres with Border 2, an epic war action film directed by Anurag Singh. The movie is an independent follow-up of the 1997 blockbuster Border directed by JP Dutta and is one of the most iconic war movies in Indian cinema.
Set during the 1971 India Pakistan war, Border 2 expands the scale of the original by showcasing coordinated military operations across multiple fronts. The collaboration of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy is emphasized in the story, which provides viewers with a more expansive and impressive war film.
Sunny Deol plays the central role of Lt. Col. Fateh Singh Kaler. Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty are also the co leads in the film. The supporting cast features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, Anya Singh and many others in significant roles.
With Border 2 drawing audiences to theatres and a new action thriller on the horizon, Sunny Deol seems firmly set in the action genre.
