Mumbai: Actor Sidharth Malhotra may soon reunite with filmmaker Karan Johar for a new romantic drama backed by Dharma Productions. According to recent reports, the actor is currently in advanced discussions to headline the project, which is expected to be directed by Sharan Sharma.
If the collaboration moves forward, the film will mark another chapter in Malhotra and Johar’s long professional association that began with Student of the Year, the film that introduced Malhotra to Bollywood as a leading man more than a decade ago.
A relationship drama with emotional depth
It is claimed that upcoming movie is an emotionally-charged relationship movie that touches upon more complicated human relations. A report indicates that the idea was originally offered to Sidharth Malhotra last year and the actor is said to have reacted to the idea in a favorable manner.
One of the sources near the production explained that the studio is eager to work with him once again and that the topic is appropriate to his screen image. When the actor was initially informed about the idea, he allegedly gave verbal consent but needed to read the full script and sign the project before signing the contract. Currently, it is reported that there are deliberations in the concluding phases. Provided all other factors come together, the movie is likely to start shooting in Mumbai in the summer of 2026.
Another reunion with director Sharan Sharma
The project will also mark another collaboration between Sidharth Malhotra and Sharan Sharma, who is known for directing films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.
Malhotra has over the years been associated with a number of films related to Dharma Productions. Hasee Toh Phasee, Brothers, Kapoor & Sons, Baar Baar Dekho, Ittefaq, Shershaah, and Yodha are some of the films in his filmography that consolidates his attachment with the banner.
What Sidharth Malhotra is working on now
On the professional front, Sidharth was last seen opposite Janhvi Kapoor in a film that released last year. He is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project Vvan, which also stars Tamannaah Bhatia.
Off the movie scenes, the actor is also undergoing a special stage in his personal life. Lately, Sidharth and his wife Kiara Advani have given birth to a baby girl named Saraayah, which is a happy new beginning in the couple.
