Mumbai: The much loved crime thriller Farzi is officially moving into its next chapter. After the huge success of the first season, actor Shahid Kapoor has now started shooting for Season 2, giving fans their first update from the sets. The actor went to Instagram Stories to give behind-the-scenes black-and-white looks, vindicating silently that the cameras are shooting again. The photos were very minimal, but they were just enough to arouse the viewers since they gave them a clue of the re-entry of Sunny, the multi-layered and gifted artist whose life went down the rabbit hole into the dangerous and shadier world of counterfeit money in the first season.

Raj & DK’s Crime Thriller Returns
Created by filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., popularly known as Raj & DK, Farzi quickly became one of the most talked about streaming shows when it premiered. The series received critical acclaim, particularly because of its compelling narrative, black humour and incisive insight into Indian ambition, inequality and survival. The main character is Sunny, a role that Shahid Kapoor plays, who is a talented yet depressed artist who starts to design what he thinks is the ultimate fake banknote. What begins as a small racket quickly develops to a serious criminal organization pitting him directly against the police thus leading to a tense cat and mouse game.
Powerful Cast Set the Stage for Season 2
The first season also featured a strong ensemble cast that helped elevate the show. Vijay Sethupathi was cast as the dogged task force officer Michael who is on a mission to destroy the counterfeit network, and Kay Kay Menon was cast as the smart crime boss Mansoor Dalal. Raashii Khanna also acted as the officer of RBI, Megha and Bhuvan Arora portrayed the best friend of Sunny, Firoz, who contributed emotional colors and conflict in the narrative. The makers had already been giving some indication much earlier on that the second season was being worked on, giving fans hope that the story would continue.
The initial series of Farzi that was released on Amazon Prime Video had eight episodes and garnered heavy audiences and a positive reception among critics. With the official start of production on Season 2, there is already a buzz about the direction that the story of Sunny will take next and whether he will remain ahead in a world where each step can bring him closer to a life-threatening situation.
