Sai Pallavi in Talks, Makers Yet to Finalise
Insiders associated with the development of Kalki 2 revealed that Sai Pallavi has been actively involved in the casting process. While nothing has been locked yet, the makers reportedly feel she could be a strong fit for the character of SUM-80.

Why SUM-80 Is a Crucial Role
SUM-80 is one of the most important characters in the Kalki 2898 AD universe. Set in a dystopian future, the character is a prime lab subject who is pregnant and on the run while trying to escape the oppressive system known as the Complex. It is a demanding role in terms of emotional involvement and physical dedication and the casting option is a critical one to the sequel.
In the initial production, the film had a huge ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. With its ambitious scale and storytelling, the film went on to become a box office phenomenon.
Deepika Padukone’s Exit and What Led to It
Kalki 2898 AD crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark worldwide and shattered several box office records, which only heightened anticipation for the sequel. However, excitement took a hit when reports surfaced about Deepika Padukone stepping away from the project.
It was later revealed that the actress and the makers mutually parted ways due to differences over working conditions. Deepika allegedly decided to focus on her personal life and demanded an eight-hour working schedule, as well as certain conditions in her team. These requirements were not in line with the exacting production schedule of the film and she quit.
With the search for a new SUM-80 now underway, Sai Pallavi’s name gaining momentum has caught fans’ attention. Although nothing official has been announced by it, her possible casting has already generated some interest, and Kalki 2 is one of the most anticipated projects in the near future.
