Mumbai: Director Rohit Shetty has finally addressed the growing rumours surrounding his much-awaited comedy film Golmaal 5. In recent days, a number of online articles had asserted that the movie had been based on a classic comedy produced by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor titled Do Aur Do Paanch. But now, Shetty has categorically refuted the allegations and made a forceful correction asking media houses not to release unverified information.

Known as the modern-day David Dhawan for his mass-appeal comedies, Rohit Shetty enjoys immense popularity for films that connect with audiences of all age groups. The Golmaal franchise, in particular, holds a special place among fans. The fifth part of the story was, of course, met with a tremendous buzz, and it was more so after it was reported that the script was in place and that the movie would see Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar reunite.

Rohit Shetty Dismisses Do Aur Do Paanch Connection

As soon as reports surfaced that Golmaal 5 was loosely based on the 1980 classic Do Aur Do Paanch, the buzz intensified. Since Rohit Shetty has a track record of reinventing popular movies, there was a lot of belief in the claims. But now the director and his production house have come out categorical that these rumours are absolutely false.

In an official statement released by Rohit Shetty Picturez, the makers strongly denied the reports. The statement explained that Golmaal 5 is not a film that is based on or inspired by any other existing film and termed the stories spreading as misleading and wrong. The team asked every media house and online resources to not share speculative information that was not verified.

Legal Warning Issued to Media Platforms

The statement also carried a stern warning regarding the spread of unverified information. The production house clarified that any news or updates regarding Rohit Shetty or Golmaal 5, should be verified through its official channels or their official PR team, Universal Communications, before being published. It further stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found sharing false or misleading reports.

The makers also urged portals to correct or take down inaccurate stories already in circulation, emphasizing the importance of responsible journalism and factual reporting.

Golmaal 5 Set to Go on Floors Soon

Despite the rumours, excitement around Golmaal 5 continues to grow. The film is expected to go on floors in March 2026, and fans are eagerly waiting for official updates regarding the cast and storyline. It was earlier reported that there may be a rejoining of Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar in the project, this further added to the expectations, but still no official confirmation of this has been made.

As one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises, Golmaal has consistently delivered laughter, memorable characters, and box office success. With Rohit Shetty decisively making things clear, people can now anticipate original plotting and classic humour in the next sequel.

For now, fans will have to wait for official announcements from the makers to get authentic updates on what promises to be one of the biggest comedy releases in the coming years.
