Mumbai: After the massive success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh is all set to push boundaries with his next big-screen venture, Pralay. The high-concept zombie movie which is touted as the most ambitious film in his career thus far will be directed by debutant Jai Mehta and will be set in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie vows to be full of action on big scale, strong emotions and a survival tale that is clingy.

A ₹300 Crore High-Concept Zombie Drama

Pralay is being mounted on an approximate budget of ₹300 crore, making it Ranveer Singh’s most expensive standalone project to date. Dhurandhar was also made in a grand scale, although its two-part format separated the production cost. Through Pralay, all the investment is being sunk in one movie and this is a milestone in the career of Ranveer.

The story revolves around a married couple battling against terrifying circumstances in a dystopian version of Mumbai. The plot unfolds in the COVID-affected world and blends family drama with high-action thrills, touching upon the themes of survival, fear, and the ability to stay strong despite everything going on.

Ranveer Singh’s First Film As A Producer

What makes Pralay even more special is that it marks the first project under Ranveer Singh’s own production banner, Maa Kasam Films. The actor is said to have struck a backend profit-sharing agreement, and is heavily engaged in all levels of the film production process, including script development and VFX planning.

Despite having the option to collaborate with established names after a blockbuster, Ranveer has chosen to back the vision of Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta. The decision highlights his confidence in strong storytelling and fresh talent, with Pralay expected to redefine the zombie genre in Indian cinema.

Cast, Shooting Timeline And More

The film is likely to go on floors in May or June 2026. Although an official confirmation is yet to be made, there is speculation that Kalyani Priyadarshan will take up the role of the female lead, as it will be her debut to Bollywood. It is assumed that the pairing will add emotional complexity to the existence-driven story.

Its huge scale, stunning visual effects, and emotionally charged storyline make the movie Pralay one of the most anticipated films throughout the career of Ranveer Singh. Fans can expect a cinematic experience that blends spectacle with soul, pushing Indian cinema into bold new territory.
