Mumbai: A new drama exploring ambition, love and the consequences of greed is heading to cinemas this year. Actors Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh are coming together for the upcoming film Raftaar, and the makers have now confirmed its theatrical release date.

The announcement was made on social media along with a simple poster that revealed the film’s title and theme. The caption read, “Ambition built it. Greed will test it. #Raftaar, releasing on July 24, at a theatre near you.” The film is directed by Aditya Nimbalkar and promises a gripping story packed with emotional conflict and high stakes.

Strong team behind the film

Raftaar is produced by Patralekhaa under the banner of Kampa Film. The project is backed by Amazon MGM Studios with Tarun Bali serving as the executive producer.

The film has a supporting cast, which includes Anurag Thakur, Rohan Verma, Tanya Maniktala and Rajat Kapoor among others in addition to Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh. Rohan Narula is the writer of the story and screenplay. The movie will bring a thrilling drama to the cinema with a well developed story line and a cast full of talent.

What’s next for Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh

Other than Raftaar, there is also another interesting project that Rajkummar Rao is planning to start, which is the Toaster. The new comedy film directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary will feature Rao and Sanya Malhotra. Rao and Patralekhaa also produce the film under Kampa Films and this is the first film that Patralekhaa produces as a film producer.

It is said that the plot of the story is based on the greedy man who gets infatuated with a stovetop he give to a newlywed couple. His strange obsession later takes him into a life threatening and surprising predicament. Other cast members are Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee, Jitendra Joshi and Seema Pahwa.

Meanwhile, the winner of the National Award in performance in Mahanati (Keerthy Suresh) gave her debut in Hindi films with Baby John and Varun Dhawan. Though the movie failed to shine in the box office, the viewers are still keen to watch her in other Hindi movies. Other than Raftaar, the actress also has a number of movies that she has planned in the Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu industries.

With its intriguing theme and strong performances expected from its lead pair, Raftaar is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the July 2026 theatrical lineup.
