Mumbai: The makers of Peddi have finally unveiled the much-awaited teaser, and it arrives as a perfect birthday treat for fans of Ram Charan, who turned 41. The sports action drama, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is already one of the most talked-about under-the-wing films, and this initial glimpse only adds to the rising excitement. Backed by Vriddhi Cinemas and Mythri Movie Makers, the teaser has been released in multiple regional languages, hinting at a wide-reaching appeal across audiences.
Ram Charan’s intense pehelwan avatar steals the spotlight
The teaser features Charan in the role of Peddi Pehelwan in a raw and rustic setting. He makes a never-seen-before appearance with long tied hair and a chiselled physique whilst fully lost in the role of a powerful wrestler. The visuals show him doing physical hard jobs like lifting heavy grain sacks and intense training sessions. One striking moment captures him inside a wrestling arena holding a traditional mace, also known as a Hanuman Gada, reinforcing the character’s strength and rooted identity. The short, 45-second glimpse is filled with gritty visuals, with scenes where he is training in the rain and pushing himself to the limit, giving fans a great sense of how much he has transformed for the role.
A rural sports drama with a strong ensemble
Beyond the action, Peddi is expected to tell a compelling story set against the backdrop of a village cricket tournament. The film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, playing Achiyamma, a lively and spirited character rooted in a rural setting. The cast also has names such as Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and Boman Irani, all of which add depth and variety to the narrative. Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the production is by Venkata Satish Kilaru and Ishan Saksena, with IVY Entertainment also backing the film.
Music for the film is composed by Oscar-winning maestro A. R. Rahman, who recently delivered the energetic track Rai Rai Raa Raa. The song, sung by Rahman in both Telugu and Tamil, features vibrant dance moves by Charan and has already caught attention online.
Release plans and Ram Charan’s personal milestones
Originally expected to release earlier, Peddi is now locked for a worldwide theatrical release on April 30, 2026. The movie is under production and is promising to be a huge addition to Charan’s filmography. He was last seen in Game Changer, directed by S. Shankar, and is set to come together for his next project with Sukumar, which is tentatively titled RC17, after the success of Rangasthalam.
On the personal front, the actor has been married to Upasana Konidela for over a decade. The couple welcomed twins on January 31, 2026, and are already parents to their daughter Klin Kaara Konidela. With a big year both professionally and personally, Charan’s powerful appearance in Peddi has set the tone for what could be one of his most intense performances yet.
