Mumbai: Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has finally broken his silence on the rumours about his casting in Drishyam 3, a long-awaited thriller starring Ajay Devgn. The actor confirmed that he was approached for the film but he chose not to come on board.
The third installment of the crime thriller franchise, Drishyam 3 with Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, has been awaited with great anticipation by audiences of Bollywood. The film is projected to be on floors in December 2025 and release on October 2, 2026. The release of its announcement teaser has however been delayed recently because of creative and legal disagreements with the creators of the original Malayalam version directed by Jeethu Joseph.
Paresh Rawal Confirms that he was approached
Paresh Rawal in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama stated that, he was approached for Drishyam 3, but he decided to turn it down after reading the script. “Yes, the makers did come to me. However, I did not think that it was the right role to take. Maza nahin aaya (I did not like reading my part), he said.
The actor praised the script saying it was very good and impressive but he couldn’t connect emotionally to his role. You must do something that excites you. Warna maza nahin aayega, he said.
About Drishyam 3
Ajay Devgn will be reintroduced as Vijay Salgaonkar in the Hindi version of Drishyam 3. The plot will continue where Drishyam 2 left off and will likely depict the face off between Vijay and the police. The director, who was successful in directing Drishyam 2, director Abhishek Pathak will also direct this climactic sequel.
Paresh Rawal’s Work Front
Apart from Drishyam 3, Paresh Rawal is preparing the much awaited Hera Pheri 3. Speaking to News18 Showsha, he affirmed that the differences in the team were all sorted out and that he will be joining Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty again. “It’s a work in progress. The actor disclosed that we would shoot the film in February-March next year.
Paresh Rawal is currently enjoying the success of his new film, Thamma, a horror-comedy, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Rawal in the film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, plays the role of Ram Bajaj Goyal, the grumpy but witty dad to the protagonist. His performance has been acclaimed due to its ideal combination of humor and emotion.
Thamma is the fifth movie in the expanding Horror Comedy Universe of Maddock Films that already has hits such as Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya 2, and Munjya. As Drishyam 3 approaches, and Hera Pheri 3 prepares to hit the floor, there is much to anticipate by Bollywood enthusiasts even though Paresh Rawal has chosen to miss out a thriller in favor of another dose of laughter.
