Mumbai: Raveena Tandon is getting ready to introduce one of the most powerful and real-life characters to the big screens. The actress will be seen playing Heeraben Modi, the late mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the much talked about biopic Maa Vande. The film, directed by Kranthi Kumar CH and produced by Veer Reddy under Silver Cast Creations, follows the motivating life of Modi from his childhood to his rise as one of India’s most influential leaders, just by emphasizing the close connection he had with his mother.

Raveena Tandon as Heeraben
Reportedly, Raveena was touched by the delicacy of the story and the power that Heeraben had lived her life with. Heeraben had faced numerous hardships since childhood yet she still kept being the emotional support of her family. The makers revealed that Raveena agreed to the film within 45 minutes of narration, as she felt the story carried honesty, warmth, and a rare emotional depth. The team will also use advanced VFX and prosthetics to help Raveena transform into different phases of Heeraben’s life, showcasing her journey across decades.
About Maa Vande
The film Maa Vande was officially announced earlier this year in September and immediately made headlines because of its scale and casting choices. Malayalam star Unni Mukundan will be stepping into the role of Narendra Modi. Known for his intense screen presence in films like Malikappuram and Marco, Unni shared that playing the Prime Minister is an “honour and responsibility” and that he is preparing extensively to portray Modi’s emotional and personal layers, beyond just his political image.

Maa Vande brings together a strong technical crew. The visuals are being handled by celebrated cinematographer K. K. Senthil Kumar, known for Baahubali and RRR. National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad, production design expert Sabu Cyril, and composer Ravi Basrur, known for KGF, are also a part of the project. With such a team, the film is being mounted as a major pan-India release, planned in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The story promises to focus on the emotional foundation that shaped Narendra Modi, his mother’s values, sacrifices, and unwavering belief in him. Rather than being a political drama, Maa Vande appears to be designed as a moving tribute to a mother whose life of simplicity and strength influenced a national leader.
With Raveena Tandon and Unni Mukundan coming together for this powerful narrative, Maa Vande has already created strong curiosity. The audience is now anxiously anticipating the initial glimpse and trailer of the movie, which is expected to highlight the heartwarming yet intense relationship at the core of the story.
