Mumbai: Yash Raj Films has given fans a double surprise with Mardaani 3. The makers have already promoted the date of release and released the powerful trailer of the long-awaited third part. Starring Rani Mukerji as ACP Shivani Shivaji Roy, the film will now hit cinemas on January 30, 2026, instead of its earlier February 27 release.

The trailer makes it clear that the Mardaani franchise has not softened with time. Dark, intense and emotionally charged, the visuals depict Shivani going on another perilous mission, where the struggle against crime is more urgent and personal than ever.

A Darker Mission and a Powerful New Villain

The trailer opens on a gritty note and quickly pulls viewers into a tense investigation centered around missing girls across the country. Rani Mukerji looks sharper, angrier, and completely in control as the fearless cop. It is her screen presence again that demonstrates why Shivani Shivaji Roy is considered to be one of the most influential female police characters in Indian film.

Adding to the intensity is the antagonist Amma, played by Mallika Prasad. Her unsettling presence brings a fresh edge to the story and sets up a strong face off between two powerful women. The grounded tone of the investigation has reminded many viewers of hard hitting crime dramas, making the trailer feel raw and realistic.

Why Mardaani 3 Was Preponed

Mardaani 3 was officially announced on the first day of Sharad Navratri 2025 and was initially locked for a February 27, 2026 release. Later, Yash Raj Films chose to shift the release date to January 30, noting reduced activity on the release calendar. The makers believe the film deserves clear space at the box office to reach a wider audience without major competition.

YRF suggests that the third installment is a rough and bloody battle between good and evil where Shivani races against time to save dozens of missing girls. The stakes and emotional weight are higher than ever before.

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film is produced by Aditya Chopra and co produced by Akshaye Widhani. Along with Rani Mukerji and Mallika Prasad, the cast includes Vash and Shaitaan fame Janki Bodiwala in a key role. It is a story written by Aayush Gupta, Deepak Kingrani, and Baljeet Singh Marwah, with the screenplay and dialogues prepared by Aayush Gupta.

The Mardaani franchise began in 2014, and Mardaani 2 was launched in 2019. Both movies were bestsellers and acclaimed to have addressed difficult social issues. Mardaani 3, with its aggressive trailer and earlier release, seems to be prepared to carry that legacy on.
