Mumbai: Karishma Tanna is officially signed to star alongside with Khushi Kapoor in the highly-anticipated Mom 2, the sequel to the 2017 hit, Mom. It is being produced by Boney Kapoor, who seeks to fulfill the legacy of his late wife, Sridevi whose memorable performance in the first version earned her a National Award.
As early reports suggest, Karishma Tanna will be a strong, multi-dimensional character who will contribute to the emotional storyline of the movie. Khushi Kapoor who has been continuously developing as an actor since she made her debut in The Archies will be the main character in this strong story of bravery and justice. The plot of the film is said to be based around the complicated relationship between women, their strength and their struggle against a broken system, the theme that made Mom such a stellar success.
About Mom 2
Mom 2 is not a direct continuation but a spiritual sequel inspired by the essence of the original. It is said to venture a new case and a new generation struggle, showing how the fight for truth never ends.. The screenplay is expected to have the same emotional tone that made the first film so impactful while giving both Khushi and Karishma strong, independent characters to portray.

The original Mom, which was released in 2017, was a tense crime drama that was directed by Ravi Udyawar. Sridevi played Devki, a mother who seeks justice for her step-daughter after the legal system fails them. The movie also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. It became her last big movie and won Sridevi a posthumous National Film Award in the Best Actress category.
