Mumbai: The release plans for Mere Raho, the upcoming romantic drama starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, have undergone a major change. The film, which was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on December 12, 2025, has now been postponed. The makers are looking at a Summer 2026 release according to industry reports with July being the best month.
The film, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, has changed its release date, which is being considered as a strategy change and not a postponement due to production problems. Filming and post production for Mere Raho were completed earlier this year, with principal photography wrapping up by April 2025.
Why Mere Raho moved out of December
Trade sources suggest that the decision was driven by the increasingly crowded December box office corridor. According to a source mentioned in Mid Day, the month of December had turned out to be a high pressure month, with big budget and star driven films.
At the end of 2025, the release calendar is expected to feature heavyweight titles, including Dhurandhar and a major romantic comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. In such a competitive space, a content led romantic drama like Mere Raho could have struggled to secure adequate screens and audience attention.
The source explained that July offers more breathing space for the film. A softer summer window would enable Mere Raho to gain momentum over time, enjoy the good word of mouth and repeat viewership. Manageable screen density and longer theatrical legs are regarded as the outstanding benefits of the summer release strategy.
A summer film aimed at urban audiences
Mere Raho’s genre and casting make it well suited for a summer release. The pairing of Sai Pallavi, known for her emotionally rich performances, with Junaid Khan, who is steadily building his profile, positions the film as a strong urban romance.
Directed by Sunil Pandey, Mere Raho is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Thai romantic drama One Day. The movie is a milestone to Sai pallavi, who is now building a lot of hype around her performance in the next mythological film, Ramayana, which is set to release in 2026.
Aamir Khan has personally done the marketing work of Mere Raho and is said to have played a pivotal role in re-evaluating the release strategy of the film to guarantee the highest theatrical results.
