Mumbai: The makers of Ikkis have officially pushed the film’s release date by a week. Originally scheduled to hit cinemas on December 25, 2025, the film will now arrive on January 1, 2026. Producer Dinesh Vijan has made the decision and this is the third occasion he has strategically shifted a release to an improved box office window.
Why Ikkis Moved Away From Christmas Week
The Christmas week is already becoming a very busy battlefield at the box office. Dhurandhar is on a strong streak and does not seem to be slowing down. To make the matter worse, Hollywood blockbuster Avatar will be available in Indian cinemas in wide release throughout India on December 19, 2025, with guaranteed high occupancy and dominance on screens throughout the festive week.
With both films expected to hold on to prime screens and peak-time shows, Ikkis was at risk of getting limited visibility. Shifting to January 1 gives the film breathing space and positions it as a solo New Year release, ensuring better show allocation at major cinema chains.
A Business Move That Makes Sense
Trade analysts see the move as a well calculated decision. The advantage with a New Year release is that the holiday traffic acts in its favor and there is no direct competition pressure. Having a smaller number of releases scheduled at the beginning of January, Ikkis can now be confident of better screen visibility and an increased number of audience attendance during its debut weekend.
Adding to the excitement, the final trailer of Ikkis will be unveiled on December 19, 2025. Early reactions suggest that the trailer is impressively impactful and creates great expectations about the movie. The hype on the trailer will likely push more people to show interest before the release in the New Year.

The movie will delve into complex characters, and extreme drama, in keeping with the signature style of Raghavan. Ikkis casts Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, Dharmendra in lead roles. The movie is currently under wraps in terms of the full cast and plot, but it is supported by a powerful team of creators and will be a very interesting movie to watch. With a new release date and growing anticipation, Ikkis is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films of early 2026.
