Mumbai: Actor Hrithik Roshan has now taken the first step to finally silence rumors of him being involved in the production of Don 3, dragging the rumors firmly to the ground. In a clear and direct statement, Hrithik dismissed all claims of being approached for the film and urged the media to refrain from spreading unverified reports.
“What started off as just a rumour has now taken on an entire life of its own, and it is important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for Don 3 at any given time. Requesting media to steer clear of any such unverified reports,” Hrithik said, putting an end to the ongoing chatter.
His explanation is made when there is an increasing confusion and back stage events about the third instalment of the classic Don franchise.
Don 3 Announcement and the Casting Shake-Up
Excel Entertainment formally gave notice on August 2023 that it would release its third installment, titled Don 3, with Ranveer Singh as the new leader of the franchise in place of Shah Rukh Khan. The sleek announcement video immediately caught the eye and the film, under the direction of Farhan Akhtar, was set to go on the floors in 2026.
However, recent reports suggested that Ranveer Singh has now exited the project, triggering widespread speculation and intense industry buzz. The incident is said to have gone so far that two closed-door meetings were conducted with the oversight of the Producers Guild of India and with major stakeholders present to discuss the dispute.
What Led to the Controversy
According to sources present at the second meeting, Ranveer’s version of events was presented first. One of the producers, who spoke under anonymity has alleged that Ranveer had accused Excel Entertainment of being nonprofessional and not serious about the film commencing on time. He has reportedly said that Farhan Akhtar had no ready bound script of the movie and that he would only like to be involved in a project that has a completely fleshed-out material.
The source further alleged that Ranveer felt his creative feedback was not being considered and that there were difficulties in incorporating certain subplots into the script. More importantly, it was alleged that Excel Entertainment had considered the option of getting Hrithik Roshan to the project and then came back to Ranveer once Dhurandhar was a success in order to cash on his growing tide.
It is this specific claim that seems to have prompted Hrithik Roshan to issue his public clarification.
Hrithik Roshan Sets the Record Straight
By categorically denying any involvement with Don 3, Hrithik Roshan has attempted to bring an end to the speculation connecting him to the franchise. His statement makes it clear that he was not part of any casting discussions or negotiations for the film, contrary to what industry rumours suggested.
Excel Entertainment is as yet to issue any official statement on the reshaped casting, scripting, or the production schedule of Don 3. As the changes that are reportedly happening behind the scene are presented, fans are anxiously awaiting a clear picture of the future of the much anticipated action spectacle.
Until an official announcement is made, the fate of Don 3 remains uncertain, but Hrithik Roshan’s firm denial has certainly cleared one of the biggest questions surrounding the project.
