Mumbai: The much talked about sequel to the cult comedy Bhagam Bhag has taken an unexpected turn. Recent reports indicated that Manoj Bajpayee has replaced Govinda in Bhagam Bhag 2, and now Paresh Rawal has confirmed the development officially. The fans are split on the news with many of them disliking the fact that Govinda was not part of the franchise.
Paresh Rawal Breaks Silence On Govinda’s Exit
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal confirmed that Manoj Bajpayee has joined the film as one of the leads. He expressed ideas about the new duo and said Manoj and Akshay Kumar will create a new and different comic energy on screen and will provide the audiences with a new experience.
Talking about Govinda’s exit, Paresh admitted that he does not know the exact reason behind the decision. He, however, said that the team will truly miss Govinda, whose comic timing contributed significantly to the memory of the original film. Paresh also announced that in the sequel, he would be featured in a dual role and that he would be thrilled to handle the new challenge.
Fans React To Govinda Not Being Part Of The Sequel
Ever since reports of Govinda’s replacement surfaced online, fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment. Many feel that Bhagam Bhag would not feel complete without his presence and have urged the makers to reconsider their decision. The comic chemistry of Govinda and Akshay Kumar in the 2006 film is one of the most popular parts of the movie, and thus his absence is a significant subject of discussion.
About Bhagam Bhag And Govinda’s Career Journey
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhagam Bhag followed the chaotic journey of a theatre group that unknowingly gets tangled in a series of crimes while travelling abroad. With fast paced comedy, mistaken identities and witty dialogues, the film became a cult favourite over the years.
Govinda, once one of the biggest superstars of the 1990s, has struggled to reclaim his position in the changing film industry. His last big screen appearance was in Rangeela Raja in 2019, where he played a double role. The film failed at the box office, adding to his career challenges. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently revealed his stagnant comeback, claiming that he is surrounded by people who do not speak the truth to him. She also disclosed that she has repeatedly urged him to invest more in fitness and test his mettle with various types of roles rather than pursuing the solo hero projects.
Despite the disappointment surrounding his exit, Bhagam Bhag 2 is moving ahead with a new cast combination and fresh comic elements. As Manoj Bajpayee joins the franchise, and Paresh Rawal plays two roles, the sequel is shaping up to provide a new twist to the adored comedy.
