Mumbai: The wait for the next chapter of one of Bollywood’s most gripping thriller franchises is finally over. The makers of Drishyam 3 have officially announced the release date of the film, confirming that Ajay Devgn’s much anticipated return as Vijay Salgaonkar will hit theatres on October 2, 2026. The date has profound emotional and story significance in the Drishyam world, and the news is even more significant to the fans.
It was announced one Monday morning via a new promo that the third part will come four years after Drishyam 2 was released in 2022. Since then, expectations around the final chapter have only grown stronger.

The one minute fourteen seconds video is opened by a strong voice over provided by the Vijay Salgaonkar, who says that his main purpose in life is to protect his family. Ajay Devgn’s character says that his family is his only truth and that he will continue to stand strong like a wall until everyone is exhausted and defeated. The message is clear. The plot is not finished yet and the epilogue will make Vijay go to the edge.

The Drishyam franchise began in 2015 with the Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit directed by Nishikant Kamat. The movie was based on the life of a simple cable operator in Goa who employs intelligence and presence of mind to rescue his family following an unimaginable crime. The first part turned out to be a massive success, earning ₹197 crore worldwide.
The sequel, released in 2022, raised the stakes even higher and emerged as an even bigger box office hit with ₹345 crore worldwide, making it a franchise that is now among the biggest box office films in the history of Bollywood. Drishyam 3 plans were announced shortly after that, and the fans were anticipating the final chapter.
Ajay Devgn and Core Cast Return for the Final Chapter
Ajay Devgn will reappear again to play the role of Vijay Salgaonkar, the keen witted family man who has kept viewers glued since the first movie. Along with him comes other actors Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor who are assured to play the same roles. Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav who portray the daughters of Vijay are also reprising, and the core family remains the same.
However, there is still no official confirmation about Akshaye Khanna, who played a key role as a police officer in Drishyam 2. The makers have not yet revealed whether he will be part of the third installment.

Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also co writes the film along with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The producers of the movie are Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak. The shooting has already started and is likely to conclude in the first half of next year. A trailer is probably going to be published in 2026.
